Bio of the presenter: Dr. Max Mauro Dias Santos is currently an Associate Professor in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in the Department of Electronics at Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná (UTFPR-PG) – Campus Ponta Grossa. He received the bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Instituto Católico de Minas Gerais, Brazil, in 1993; the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering and the Ph.D. degree in industrial engineering from the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Brazil, respectively in 1996 and 2004. He was a Post-Doctoral Fellow in electrical engineering at the Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal, in 2005/2006. He has over 20 years of experience in the industry and education with contributions highlighted below. He worked as a product engineer at IBM, Volvo, and General Motors. He worked on the hardware and software with an IBM RS/6000 SP2 (Deep Blue) for the design of a power system based at the Stagg System hosted by Energy Management System. His teaching and research interests are in the fields of embedded systems, automotive systems, industrial automation, and autonomous systems. He authored and co-authored +9 books and has experience in 16 R&DI Projects as Principal and co-Principal Investigator currently 5 ongoing projects, with a total funding amount of +US$ 2M so far. He gets success many scholarships for students to carry out their research. His professional and scholarly works allowed him to be produced in more than 100 journal and conference publications. He is a senior member of IEEE and an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Vehicles. Besides this, he has been a consultant and instructor in the areas of industrial automation and automotive systems of several companies such as USIMINAS, ACESITA, RCS, ITAIPU Binacional, RCS, AEA, SAE Brasil, CESAR, Marcopolo, FORD, FCA, Bosch, Jtekt, AUTOTRAC, Ciclo Engenharia, GRABER, ANACOM/dSPACE, Chiptronic, Veltec, and others.
